Process skid fabrication

Skid assemblies, equipment frames and prefabricated piping modules for U.S. projects, with fabrication scope and testing defined around your drawings.

Blue process vessels with interconnecting pipework

Rigid Welding fabricates process skid assemblies that bring piping and supporting steelwork into a coordinated package. Our capabilities include prefabricated piping modules, equipment frames and custom weldments in carbon steel, stainless steel and specialty alloys. We review the assembly drawings and interfaces with your team so fabrication, inspection and documentation responsibilities are clear before work begins.

What we deliver

  • Prefabricated piping modules and skid-mounted assemblies
  • Equipment frames and custom weldments
  • Carbon steel, stainless steel and specialty alloy process piping
  • Engineering support for construction and fabrication drawings
  • Inspection plans, pressure test records and manufacturing data packages

Set the assembly boundaries

A skid quotation should make clear where the fabrication package starts and ends. Identify the frame, piping and equipment included in the assembly, the tie-in points and any components supplied by others. Include equipment interface drawings so the supporting steelwork and piping connections can be reviewed together. Electrical, controls, commissioning and other specialist work should be identified separately for scope review.

  • General arrangement and frame drawings with overall dimensions
  • Piping isometrics, connection details and equipment interfaces
  • Component lists distinguishing supplied items from requested procurement
  • Installation interfaces and any handling or transport requirements

Build the RFQ around your project requirements

Send the current drawing package, including revision status, along with the process and mechanical specifications that govern fabrication. State the material grades, quantity and delivery destination. If engineering is part of the request, identify the calculations or drawings required. We review these inputs to define the fabrication scope and clarify open items before confirming the quotation.

  • Material specifications for the piping and support frame
  • Applicable codes and customer fabrication specifications
  • Required delivery date and any staged release requirements
  • Requested engineering, inspection and final documentation scope

Agree the inspection and handover package

Define how each part of the assembly will be inspected and what evidence your project team needs at handover. The piping test scope, NDE, customer hold points and document review requirements should be included in the inspection plan. Our quality documentation capabilities include material traceability, weld records, inspection reports and pressure test records compiled into a manufacturing data package. Identify any separately supplied equipment records that must be coordinated with that package.

FAQ

Questions about process skid fabrication

Don’t see yours? Call 818-669-9999.

What is the difference between a pipe spool and a process skid?

A pipe spool is a fabricated section of piping assembled from pipe, fittings and connections. A process skid brings piping and supporting structure together into a larger module and may include equipment specified for the assembly. The quotation defines which components and activities are included.

What drawings do you need to quote a process skid?

Start with the general arrangement, frame drawings, piping drawings and equipment interface details. Include material specifications, component lists, inspection requirements, quantity and delivery timing. Flag any engineering work or design decisions that remain open.

Does a skid quote include controls and commissioning?

These should be listed as separate requirements in your RFQ. Our published fabrication scope covers piping modules, equipment frames and custom weldments; the quotation will identify the agreed scope and any work or components supplied by others.

Can inspection and documentation requirements be included?

Yes. Include the inspection and test plan, applicable project specifications and required document list. We review NDE, pressure testing, customer review points and manufacturing data package requirements as part of the quotation.
